چکیده

In this study, X-ray computed tomography (X-ray CT) in situ compressive loading was used, combination with digital volume correlation (DVC), to analyze the localized damage behavior of cement mortar, cracking process, microstructural changes, and strain distribution. By using CT, it possible identify three-dimensional structure two-dimensional internal morphology compressed mortar. The development significantly influenced by unhydrated cement. Cracks material did not always expand an increasing load, formation new cracks made old ones become extruded. After conducting a DVC calculation, found that procedure contained bias. bias during non-homogeneity can cause uneven maximum principal strains are all tensile, causing tensile damage. To reflect inside specimen, gray value CT image index determined primary were used. A localization factor introduced characterize failure process three dimensions. occurred earlier than on surface, develops from out, according results image’s value, index, factor. which may be caused phenomenon compression load or pressure. order reach reliable conclusion, more research is required.

In-situ Analysis of Laminated Composite Materials by X-ray Micro-Computed Tomography and Digital Volume Correlation

The complex mechanical behaviour of composite materials, due to internal heterogeneity and multi-layered composition impose deeper studies. This paper presents an experimental investigation technique to perform volume kinematic measurements in composite materials. The association of X-ray micro-computed tomography acquisitions and Digital Volume Correlation (DVC) technique allows the measuremen...

Mapping soil deformation around plant roots using in vivo 4D X-ray Computed Tomography and Digital Volume Correlation.

The mechanical impedance of soils inhibits the growth of plant roots, often being the most significant physical limitation to root system development. Non-invasive imaging techniques have recently been used to investigate the development of root system architecture over time, but the relationship with soil deformation is usually neglected. Correlative mapping approaches parameterised using 2D a...

Empirical correlation for porosity deduction from X-ray computed tomography (CT)

For obtaining reservoir petrophysical properties, for example porosity, non-destructive methods such as X-ray computed tomography, CT, seems to be precise and accurate. Porosity is deducted from the CT image with a single scan via different techniques, such as pore space detection by image segmentation techniques then correlation with porosity. More than one hundred samples with carbonate li...

Study of mechanical behavior of cancellous bone by Digital Volume Correlation and X-ray Micro-Computed Tomography

This paper presents a study of mechanical behavior of human cancellous bone during a compression loading. Mechanical test is performed inside an X-ray tomography device allowing us to generate a volume image for each loaded step. Digital Volume Correlation (DVC) process has been developed and applied on these volume images. Full 3D displacement field is determined by DVC leading to the calculat...

X-ray computed tomography.

X-ray computed tomography (CT), introduced into clinical practice in 1972, was the first of the modern slice-imaging modalities. To reconstruct images mathematically from measured data and to display and to archive them in digital form was a novelty then and is commonplace today. CT has shown a steady upward trend with respect to technology, performance and clinical use independent of predictio...
